[IGN](https://www.ign.com/articles/gta-6-every-animal-confirmed-so-far?ref=aftermath.site), meanwhile, has taken what I can only imagine were great pains to identify a sizable chunk of that roster. In the interest of contributing our own spice to this extremely important journalistic stew, we will now tell you which of those animals are best (and worst). 1. **Cats** They’re perfect! I just spent thousands of dollars to [drag mine back from the brink of death](https://bsky.app/profile/nathangrayson.bsky.social/post/3muv4re6qes2t?ref=aftermath.site)! I’m basically obligated to give them the number one spot! 1. **Dogs** Basically tied with cats. Energetic, fun-loving, [impressively in touch with human emotions](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/scientists-gave-dogs-mris-and-learned-that-theyre-surprisingly-good-at-distinguishing-between-human-emotions-even-some-negative-ones-180989329/?ref=aftermath.site). Cats and dogs are the apples and oranges of animals. Can’t go wrong with the classics. 1. **Sea Turtles** They’ve [been around for 110 million years](https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/news/june15/sea-turtles.html?ref=aftermath.site)! The accomplishments of humanity pale in comparison. 1. **Jellyfish** They can learn and remember [despite having no brains](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/66913218?ref=aftermath.site). It’s really cool! ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/30/f5/30f5b1bb-84ee-4c26-b446-fb9a5e512994/content/images/2026/10/animals4.jpg) Rockstar 1. **Alligators** Big, green. 1. **Whales** Big, whale-colored. 1. **Nine-banded armadillos** An armored mammal, which is already sick enough, but this variety of armadillo—sadly unable to roll itself up into a ball—*can* traverse rivers by “[inflating its intestines and floating](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-banded%5Farmadillo?ref=aftermath.site).” Alternatively, it can just let itself sink and walk along the riverbed, because it can hold its breath for up to six minutes. You’ve gotta respect it. 1. **Beavers** Nature’s builders. Industrious, clever. Just cool little guys. 1. **Manatees** Big and sleepy, with endearingly friendly faces. Also, they can live for up to 60 years! 1. **Bobcats** Some of the best ears in the game (*GTA* and real life), but loses points because I’m not able to keep one in my home (definitely in real life, we’ll see about *GTA*). 1. **Deer** Cute despite being kinda funny looking. But also… mysterious. 1. **Monkeys** They’ve got cool little hands. 1. **Raccoons** They’ve also got cool little hands. 1. **Otters** They’ve got cool little wet hands. 1. **Cane Toads** On one hand, a devastatingly successful invasive species, especially in Australia (sorry, Luke). On the other hand, [Toadzilla](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-20/giant-cane-toad-found-in-north-queensland-conway-national-park/101873072?ref=aftermath.site). 1. **Pelicans** What that beak do? 1. **Spoonbills** What *that* beak do? 1. **Boars** A violent pig for a violent era. 1. **Cougar** Not my favorite of the big cats on merits, but it’s got some cool [ties to indigenous culture](https://www.ticketmachupicchu.com/inca-trilogy-condor-puma-snake/?ref=aftermath.site#cougar%5Fincas). 1. **Eels** Sea freaks with sharp teeth and weird eyes. Did you know that regular eels and electric eels [evolved their shapes independently](https://aqua.org/explore/animals/electric-eel?ref=aftermath.site)? Perfectly fine. Great for eating, but you can’t taste things through a video game. 1. **Iguanas** The pet lizard your one quirky friend has. 1. **Ducks** The common pond fowl. Not much to see here. 1. **Woodpeckers** Background noise. 1. **Snakes** Often associated with deception when, in reality, they spend most of their time napping under rocks. Not all that exciting unless they’re poisoning you. 1. **Cranes** Long necked, prolific eaters. I’ve seen better, I’ve seen worse. 1. **Flamingoes** Show offs. 1. **Eagles** Overrated bird. Wouldn’t be famous if not for America’s fixation on it. 1. **Storks** Notable largely because of the whole baby delivery myth. Otherwise they fail to elicit strong emotion. 1. **Seagulls** [“All seagulls are boys. Are they [not](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/bottlenose-dolphins-cruel-evil-behavior?ref=aftermath.site)?
