Gunzilla, The Company That Owns Game Informer, Has Reportedly Not Paid Some Developers For Months

Gunzilla is a studio best known for two things: being the developers behind the NFT-focused shooter Off The Grid, and also being the company that bought Game Informer and helped bring the magazine back from the dead.

Earlier today stories on Insider Gaming and Kotaku detailed several accounts from Gunzilla employees on Linkedin, with those workers--some of whom have been there for over five years--reporting that they've stopped being paid, some for weeks, others for months.

Artist Andrew Snitsar wrote on LinkedIn that he had “Never experienced anything like it before. I trusted their promises because we were ‘family’ and now they owe me 5 months’ worth of salary. What a shame, can’t believe I was so dumb".

Vladyslav Makarevych, who works in QA, wrote that he has been "Working there for almost a year now, and last salary I got was in September. Half a year without salary during wartime isn’t exactly what I was hoping for."

Missing one person's pay, one time, is a payroll error. This many people not being paid for months suggests there are serious financial troubles at the studio, despite Gunzilla having raised over $100 million across six different funding rounds. The company conducted two rounds of layoffs throughout 2025.

Off The Grid is a battle royale shooter that has an NFT marketplace, albeit one that's only active on the Epic Game Store. It dropped into Early Access in 2024 before a proper release (on both PC and consoles, where you can't trade NFTs) in 2025.

While Game Informer operates as a separate company, one that has its own revenue streams through advertising and magazine sales, we've contacted the publication for comment.
