# Gunzilla, The Company That Owns Game Informer, Has Reportedly Not Paid Some Developers For Months

Gunzilla is a studio best known for two things: being the developers behind the NFT-focused shooter *Off The Grid*, and also being the company[ that bought Game Informer and helped bring the magazine back from the dead](https://aftermath.site/game-informer-gunzilla/).

Earlier today stories on[ Insider Gaming](https://insider-gaming.com/gunzilla-games-not-paying-staff/?ref=aftermath.site) and[ Kotaku](https://kotaku.com/gunzilla-nft-battle-royale-game-accused-of-not-paying-staff-for-months-game-informer-2000685847?ref=aftermath.site) detailed several accounts from Gunzilla employees on Linkedin, with those workers--some of whom have been there for over five years--reporting that they've stopped being paid, some for weeks, others for *months*.

Artist Andrew Snitsar wrote on [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7447312007797637120?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28activity%3A7447312007797637120%2C7447366100079591424%29&dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd%5Fcomment%3A%287447366100079591424%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7447312007797637120%29&ref=aftermath.site) that he had “Never experienced anything like it before. I trusted their promises because we were ‘family’ and now they owe me 5 months’ worth of salary. What a shame, can’t believe I was so dumb".

Vladyslav Makarevych, who works in QA, [wrote](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7447312007797637120?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28activity%3A7447312007797637120%2C7447334125490933760%29&dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd%5Fcomment%3A%287447334125490933760%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7447312007797637120%29&ref=aftermath.site) that he has been "Working there for almost a year now, and last salary I got was in September. Half a year without salary during wartime isn’t exactly what I was hoping for."

Missing one person's pay, one time, is a payroll error. This many people not being paid for months suggests there are serious financial troubles at the studio, despite Gunzilla having raised[ over $100 million across six different funding rounds](https://www.binance.com/en/square/post/22182669144290?ref=aftermath.site). The company[ conducted two rounds of layoffs throughout 2025](https://www.gamereactor.eu/gunzilla-games-confirms-new-round-of-layoffs-1571163/?ref=aftermath.site).

[*Off The Grid* is a battle royale shooter that has an NFT marketplace](https://kotaku.com/off-the-grid-review-nft-blockchain-crypto-gunz-gunzilla-1851786579?ref=aftermath.site), albeit one that's only active on the Epic Game Store. It dropped into Early Access in 2024 before a proper release (on both PC and consoles, where you *can't* trade NFTs) in 2025.

While Game Informer operates as a separate company, one that has its own revenue streams through advertising and magazine sales, we've contacted the publication for comment. **UPDATE April 9**: *Game Informer tells Aftermath "our work and pay have continued without issue".*
