Commenting Policy

If you’re a Member or Benefactor subscriber, you have the ability to comment on our site. We want the comments section to be a good place to give us feedback and to engage with writers and other readers. We think you want the comments to be a nice place too. Let’s make them that way together.

The rules are pretty simple: Please don’t be an asshole. We want you to share your thoughts, debate us and each other, and point out typos or other inaccuracies–but you can do that in a way that’s respectful to Aftermath’s writers and community. Differences of opinions are encouraged; using those differences to insult, demean, or harass each other is not. We won’t tolerate bigotry, personal attacks, or pornographic or illegal materials. If you can imagine an older, wiser version of yourself cringing at your comments and saying, “Gosh, I’ve grown so much since then,” maybe think twice about putting it in the comments.

Aftermath’s staff reserves the right to decide if your comment has violated the rules and to remove it or ban you from commenting accordingly. We really don’t want to spend our time doing that, and we’re sure you don’t want to spend your time having it done to you. Lucky for all of us, that’s easy to avoid!

If you have questions about this policy or want to bring something from the comments to our attention, you can reach us at comments@aftermath.site

Thanks for your support of Aftermath, and for being a part of our community.
